Thumbs UP to Matt Staszak of SI
I do not know the Author But it is a nice Pat On Th Back!
Category: Heroes
I just want to personally recognize Matt Staszak of Southern Illinois. I emailed him when I saw the article in The Southern newspaper on Helping Haiti. If anyone in Southern Illinois deserves a leadership award this great young man does. He has emailed me back and keeps up with the ones who are contacting him on top of all his hard work and leadership duties. Good looking young man too as my wife would say. He told me in his email he plans to move back to Southern Illinois when he retires from the service to possibly pursue a career in politics and this is EXACTLY what this region needs is someone like Mr. Staszak to get things back on track and in order. THUMBS UP to Matt Staszak a hardworking native and hero of Southern Illinois.

I 2nd that Pat on the back! Way to go Mr. Staszak.
I met Matt at Mary Lou's in Carbondale, I read his article in the paper a very bright and intelligent guy. I think he said he was stationed somewhere in the Carolinas and home for a week I do remember him. Outstanding job sir!

I tried to send this earlier but it did not go though. I know Matt Staszack and I think he just came from a Silver Spoon Fed family who just gets "overlooked" cause of who they are, who they know and their history. Who cares that his family held postions in the past in Williamson County! What they heck has Matt Staszack done for Southern Illinois other than serve in the military and taking credit for doing things and getting a bunch of medals??? I'm not trying to bash his service to this country but I think he is just out to get a bigger paycheck to fill his own pockets... I haven't read in the newspaper lately that Matt Staszack helps with starving kids of Southern Illinois or helping in soup kitchens oh and if you get a chance check out his Facebook filled with fancy pictures of a new house him with different girls and his very nice things again people SILVER SPOON FED!!! Sounds like a person I'd want to be in a office for Southern Illinois YAH RIGHT!!!
etc etc etc - February 9, 2010, 9:14 am
i read the silver spoon fed comments and i just got a kick out of the unknown this person doesnt know matt very well obviously now im not going to get in the middle of a match but im going to set the record stright with unknown i know matt and some of his family as far as silver spoon fed i highly doubt that just because someone has worked there way up the food chain quickly because of hardwork and good merits doesnt make them silver spoon fed have you thought that they are just really good people who work hard for what they have and i also notice unknown you bring up their family history well unknown what do you seem to know about their history i know that matt has had past family members as military officials judges sheriffs and wardens but you just seem to know alot now dont you unknown. i dont think you need to come on to a open public forum bashing things you cant back and yes matt does have medals and i know matt has served in very hard places to get those medals in fact he could probably care less about all his medals because he has so many of them that i know of as far as the nice things now matt has paid for everything without any assistance from his family but that is really none of your business in my opinion and the pictures with girls well i dont have face book but if he has pictures with girls good for him he deserves it in fact if i had twin younger sister i would be proud to say she is or was dating him cause matts a really good man so unknown you really are in the unknown.

To the unknown and just a word of advice I think this was designed to (honor) Mr. Staszak instead of trying to talk trash about him I mean the young man is a very respected person and veteran helping out those less fortunate in Haiti why you are probably at home on the internet drinking hot chocolate and looking out your window at your peaceful snow covered yard.

Greetings SI Gossip,
I want to release a statement on the recent activity about me on SI Gossip. First I want to say I am honored that there are folks in Southern Illinois that support me and second of all I want to clear up a few things I have noticed on the comments made about me.
As you will notice there has been some things said that reflect on me and my family. So let me make it crystal clear I am not rich nor do I ever want to be rich and as far as the term “silver spoon fed” I am of the middle class of Southern Illinois and I currently live in North Carolina because of military duties and for my current salary bracket as you may feel free to look up because it is public information I do live above the standards for the state of North Carolina but that does not make me “silver spoon fed” just because I built a new average size home in the country and just so you know Unknown I could have built a much larger house well within my means but I am single and I don’t believe in waste and by the way I live in North Carolina so why are you so concerned about my life?
As far as my family I do have family from my mother’s side (Bradley, Bulliner, Cannon) who have held offices in different professions or held military positions but that does not make me “silver spoon fed” All of my family worked diligently hard to make it where they did or currently are including myself.
The picture issue with gals well let’s face it I have friends from Southern IL that are gals and I am single not married or in a relationship so I just take it that it isn’t right or okay for me to have friends that are gals according to Unknown? I am a man of class and manners and those gals know me know for who I am and what I stand for.
Lastly how dare you Unknown to challenge an honest, respected and decorated combat veteran who is still serving and currently on an Operation that takes a lot of nerve but I like it and respect it but just get your facts straight from now on or keep your mouth shut.
Very Respectfully,
M. L. STASZAK
You have Lots O Friends and I think you deserve all the nice things people are saying.

I just happened across this site while looking for anything about my new pen pal Matthew L. Staszak. While we have never met, I support what he and countless others are doing to protect us here at home. Home, where we are free to come and go with no one telling us other wise, Home, where we are free to say what we want and not be tortured or killed because of it. Home, so that we may enjoy our families and the things we share while they put that on hold to serve our country! Don't get me wrong, I don't want there to be ANY wars that involve us, but we have them. We've had them for 220 years now. But I support our troops because I can! I have been supporting them since the Gulf War and up until today. I chose to write to our military and have only one regret. I regret I didn't start sooner and that I can't support them all. But the ones that I have and still support mean the world to me. Many I have never met, but that doesn't stop me from letting them know at least my family supports them. I know they appreciate it because they have told me so in my many years worth of letters and emails. Matthew is one of my current pen pals and he is doing a fantastic job where he is. I wish more people out there would jump on my band wagon and show them that we care about them. Even if you don't agree with the war either, show them we care for them. Thanks to all of our military out there wherever you are. I care! Keep up the great work. Here’s a pat on the back for all of you!

i want to add on to what jayna said in her comments i know matt i haven't seen him in a while but i find this site funny i think it derseves a little bit more of the truth. matt is a very nice, handsome and caring gentleman but iv'e seen him upset too don’t get me wrong and he just isn't the type you would want to tick off by gossiping and talking behind his back he is the type of guy that would make a chicago lawyer look like a complete idiot if they were to get on his bad side then make them eat at a golden corral instead of a 5 star restaurant later that day just because. some people on here are trying to just gossip but some are saying good things about him which is the truth. he has done an incredible job in his military duties and he has the decorations and awards to even prove it i'm sure. all i have ever seen this guy do is want to talk to people and help others that may need a helping hand this is just a man you can't break no matter what you do to him or say about him.
